Blue Collar Guild, LLC Version 1.1 · Effective 30 September 2026

What we publish, and why you can trust it

We publish reviews from people who hired the business. A person reads every one before it posts. We don't edit what you wrote, we don't take truthful reviews down because a member asked, and members cannot pay to have reviews removed, hidden, or reordered.

That last sentence is the whole value of a review section. Everything below protects it.

1. Who can leave a review

You can review a business you actually hired to do work.

You can't review:

  • a business you got a quote from but didn't hire — tell us about that instead, at

(615) 766-3976, and we'll look into it;

  • a business you compete with;
  • your own business, or one you work for or are related to;
  • something you heard about second-hand.

We ask directly whether you hired them, because the question filters most of this on its own.

2. What we won't publish

  • Anything about a person's race, religion, nationality, sex, or disability
  • Threats, slurs, or abuse
  • Someone's home address, phone number, or other private details
  • Another business's phone number or a pitch for a competitor
  • Anything that looks paid-for or organised
  • Anything about a dispute that's in active litigation

We publish criticism. We don't publish attacks, and there's a difference: criticism is about the work.

3. How moderation works

Every review is read before it posts, usually within a day. We're checking whether it breaks Section 2 — not whether it's fair, and not whether the member will like it.

We show you these rules on the form, before you write. That way you can say what you mean in a way we can publish, rather than finding out afterwards.

If a review breaks Section 2 we don't publish it. We can't tell you why, because we don't ask for your email address and we'd rather not have it — a review needs your first name and your county, and nothing else. You're welcome to write another one.

4. If a member disputes a review

Members can tell us a review is false at reviews@thebluecollarguild.com. We will:

  • read it again against Section 2;
  • ask the member what specifically is untrue;
  • ask the reviewer for anything supporting it — an invoice, a text thread, a date;
  • let the member post a public reply, which is usually the better remedy.

We take a review down only if it breaks Section 2, if the reviewer can't substantiate a specific factual claim we're asked about, or if it turns out they weren't a customer. We don't take a review down for being negative, and we don't take one down because a member threatened us. If a member believes a review is defamatory, that's a claim against the reviewer, and we'll respond to a court order.

5. Rating and display

  • The star average is the plain mean of published reviews. No weighting, no smoothing.
  • We show the review count next to it, because 4.9 from 11 and 4.7 from 112 aren't comparable.
  • Reviews are shown newest first. Members cannot reorder them.
  • Paid tier has no effect on reviews. A Great Standard member's reviews are shown exactly as

a Pennon member's are.

  • We publish a first name and a county, never a phone number or full address.

6. What we don't claim

Reviews are the reviewer's account of their own experience. They are not audited or verified by the Guild, and we say so on every profile. We don't check that the job happened, what it cost, or whether the account is accurate. We check that the reviewer says they hired the business, and that the review doesn't break Section 2.

7. Incentives

Members may not offer discounts, refunds, gifts, or anything else in exchange for a review, and may not ask only happy customers to review them. Doing it is grounds for removing the listing.

8. Removing your own review

Email reviews@thebluecollarguild.com and we'll take it down. You don't have to say why.
