Blue Collar Guild, LLC Version 1.0 · Effective 30 September 2026
The short version
We collect very little. If you send a quote request, it goes to the one business you chose. We keep a record that it happened — which business, which county, what kind of work — for 60 days, then delete it. We don't sell anything to anybody, and we don't hand your details to lead brokers. There are no advertising trackers on this site.
1. What we collect
If you're looking for a contractor:
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, phone, email (optional), county, description of the job | Only if you send a quote request | Passed to the business you chose. We keep the record of the request — business, county, trade, date — but not your message, for 60 days |
| County you selected, or approximate location | If you use "use my location," with your permission | To show who covers you |
| Search text | When you search | To route you to the right trade, and to see which counties have demand we can't serve |
| Review text, first name, county | If you leave a review | To publish it |
| Basic usage — pages viewed, referring site, device type, coarse region from IP | Always | To keep the site working and see what's used |
We do not ask you to create an account, and we don't want one.
If you advertise here: business name, contact details, username and password (stored hashed — we never see it), trades, counties, home town, licence and credential details, photographs and logo, billing status, and a record of which agreement version you accepted and when.
Documents we hold — and only these three: your certificate of insurance, your contractor licence if you hold one, and your commercial driver's licence if you haul. We do not hold W-9s or other tax records, taxpayer identification numbers, bank details, permits, contracts, or job paperwork. If a member sends one anyway we return it and delete it. We hold the three documents our own published claims rest on, and nothing else.
Payment cards are handled entirely by our payment processor. We never receive or store full card numbers.
2. What we do with it
- Pass a quote request to the business you chose. The Guild does not receive a copy of your message.
- Publish member listings, reviews, and licence status.
- Send service messages by email — quote requests, receipts, renewal notices, licence and
insurance matters. We do not send text messages.
- Keep the site working, and see which counties and trades have demand.
- Meet our legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
3. What we never do
- We don't sell personal information. Not to lead brokers, not to marketers, not to anyone.
- We don't share your quote request with businesses you didn't pick.
- We don't run advertising trackers or ad-network pixels on this site.
- We don't use your information to build a profile of you or to target advertising.
4. Who sees it
- The business you chose — your quote request, so they can respond.
- Guild staff — as needed to run the service. Staff accounts cannot see financial records.
- Service providers who host the site, send our email, and process payments. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own
purposes.
- Law enforcement or a court, where we are legally required.
- A buyer, if the business is ever sold — bound by this policy.
5. How long we keep it
| Record | Kept |
|---|---|
| Quote request records — business, county, trade, date | 60 days, then deleted. Your message and contact details are not retained by the Guild |
| Review submissions | While published; deleted on request |
| Search logs | 12 months, then aggregated and the raw text deleted |
| QR scan and page-view logs | Daily totals kept; individual records deleted at 60 days |
| Complaint records | 3 years — long enough to see a pattern and to show a regulator we acted |
| Member records, insurance certificates, licence checks | For the membership, plus 12 months after it ends, then deleted |
| A listing's web address | Kept permanently, and never given to another business — see below |
| Billing records and invoices | 7 years, as tax law requires |
| Which agreement version a member accepted | For as long as it could matter in a dispute |
Why a web address outlives the listing
Every listing has its own address — thebluecollarguild.com/m/your-business. That address is printed on QR codes, truck decals and yard signs, and vinyl outlasts a membership. So when a listing closes we keep the address reserved permanently and never give it to another business. Somebody scanning a two-year-old decal reaches a page saying the listing has closed, not a stranger's business.
To do that after the twelve months are up, we keep only what the closed page needs: a one-way hash of the address, the trade and the county. Not the business name, not the contact details, not anything else. It's enough to keep the address reserved and to offer other businesses covering the same work — and it isn't enough to reconstruct who was there.
6. Your choices
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you;
- correct it;
- delete it — we'll do it unless we're required to keep it, such as billing records;
- stop emailing you — use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or write to us. Service messages about an active membership can't be switched off while the
membership is active.
Email privacy@thebluecollarguild.com. We reply within 30 days and we don't charge for it.
Tennessee residents have rights under the Tennessee Information Protection Act, and residents of other states may have rights under their own laws. We apply the rights above to everyone regardless of where they live, because maintaining two standards is how mistakes happen.
7. Children
The site isn't for anyone under 18 and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If we learn we have, we delete it.
8. Cookies
We use only what the site needs to work:
- the county you selected, so you don't pick it again on every page
- whether you asked for the site in English or Spanish, set only if you choose one
- keeping you signed in, if you're a member
- counting visits in aggregate
No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, no cross-site tracking. Because we set nothing that requires consent, there's no cookie banner to click, which we consider a feature.
9. Security
Passwords are hashed. The site runs over HTTPS. Access to member and complaint records is limited by role and every staff action is logged. No system is perfect; if a breach affects your information we'll tell you promptly and tell you what to do.
10. Where your information is
The United States.
11. Changes
We'll update the version and date above, and announce material changes on the site for 30 days.
